Drawing can be an excellent tool for helping a child find his or her sense of self and also sense of place in the family, in the neighborhood, in the classroom or on the sports team. The drawing becomes a visual method that the therapist can use to engage the child into a collaboration to figure out where he or she fits in within these important social structures. This process can also provide insights into other emotional illnesses.
